A MALPAS care home is celebrating after seeing their rating improved following a recent inspection.

Prospect House in High Street has been rated as 'good' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following their January inspection.

The home's previous inspection took place in August 2019, with the care home being listed as 'requiring improvement' by inspectors.

But in the most recent report, inspectors said the home had made and sustained 'significant improvements' in the service people received.

In the report, the inspectors said residents at the home were kept safe from harm and infection and that their needs were being met.

"The management of medicines had improved, and people received their medicines on time," said the report. "Risks to people's health and safety had been assessed and mitigated.

"The relative of one person who is living with dementia told us, 'my relative thinks the world of the staff. I can tell by the way my relative looks at them, I just know my relative is safe.'

"There were sufficient numbers of safely recruited staff on duty to meet people's assessed needs."

The report also highlighted the number of improvements related to the quality of the service.

"Improvements had been made to make sure the systems in place to monitor the quality of the service were effective," the report added.

"People and their relatives were happy with the management of the service and the care people received.

"They had the opportunity to give their views in a number of ways and felt listened to.

"One relative told us they felt Prospect House was a 'wonderful place' and that they 'couldn't be happier.'

"The management team were open and transparent when things went wrong and were open to suggestions to improve the quality of the service people receive."

Meanwhile a spokesman for Prospect House said they were 'pleased' with the result of the latest inspection "We are very pleased to announce the results of our latest CQC Report," they said. "Prospect House has now returned to a 'good' CQC rating and we would like to thank everyone who worked so hard and contributed to achieving this, especially in these very difficult times."
