STAFF at a Whitchurch estate agents with branches all over Shropshire have completed a gruelling running challenge for charity

During January, five members of the Barbers – based in Whitchurch High Street – team took part in the #BHF100K challenge.

Barbers managing director Mike Arthan led the way as he and his staff joined 250 other agents from all over the country in a bid to run, cycle or walk over 100km during the month, with more than 2,400 sponsors donating an incredible £65,000 (including gift aid) so far through the fundraising page JustGiving.

Mike admitted his pride at completing the challenge and thanked all those who donated to their cause.

He said: "Some of us are now feeling the effects of a month’s worth of hard exercise but I am sure you will agree it has been more than worth it.

"It has been fantastic to see so many people getting out and about in the fresh air – despite the cold wind, rain, sleet, and snow. Well done to all participants on raising money for such a wonderful cause.

"This figure raised is absolutely amazing and will help support the excellent work that The British Heart Foundation does on a daily basis. Thank you to all who took part and donated."

The Relocation Agent Network (of which Barbers are a member) and Agents Giving spearheaded the campaign which was started by Kevin Scrupps, from Pygott & Crone in Lincolnshire.

"Kevin said: 'We saw a fantastic response from the estate agency world, our friends, families, and from different organisations across the country.

"People of all ages and abilities have taken part, and the amount we have raised is amazing and way beyond the fundraising target that I originally had in mind."
