A FLOOD alert has been issued for the River Dee at Farndon as a result of persistent rainfall.
Water levels are expected to rise to a height of around 8.2 metres by Friday evening, and will remain for the next few days.
Despite this, the Environment Agency say they do not expect this to become a flood warning.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: "We currently expect that the river level will peak this evening at around 8.2m and remain at this level for the next few days, this suggests that the river may cut off Townfield Lane at this level.
"At the moment we do not expect to issue a flood warning for this area.
"Our incident response staff are closely monitoring weather forecasts and river levels and will issue further updates where necessary.
"Please be aware of your surroundings and keep up to date with the current situation."
