RESIDENTS across Whitchurch, Wem and Malpas are being urged to follow Met Office that a yellow warning for heavy snow is still in place.

With parts of north Shropshire and Cheshire receiving heavier snowfall that others, the Met Office waning – which began at 3am on Sunday – is still in place until midnight.

The warning states that snow will bring travel disruption to parts of England and Wales.

People are to expect possible travel delays on roads stranding some vehicles and passengers; possible delays or cancellations to rail and air travel; some rural communities could become cut off; power cuts may occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.

There has been a scattering of snow in Whitchurch while areas around Ellesmere and Oswestry have seen more.
