FOR some people, having their face immortalised on a football computer game is a dream.

But for the owners of Tilstock Airfield, it has happened, in a manner of speaking, with an online flight simulator now carrying the local runway's appearance.

The airfield, which caters for daredevils taking on parachute jumps, has now been recreated for Microsoft Flight simulator 2020 simulator by local aviation enthusiast David Torrens.

According to the website details, the airfield simulation is in its opening stages.

David says: "This is a simple version of the three runways that look from the satellite images to have been there during the Second World War

"The longest was very long, big enough for one of the jets in the game to take off.

"So not far to 'travel' to take off on a virtual trip to anywhere.

"This is an add in for the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and I have included the project files so you can edit it and do your own version or maybe someone would like to make the airport more like it was in the Second World War."

Part of one runway still exists today and is in use by the Skydive Tilstock Freefall Club.

David added: "The original Control Tower has been preserved and I am hoping to add that in as well as other aspects of what the area would have been like during the Second World War."
