WHITCHURCH Brownies have continued the theme of giving this Christmas, by donating hampers to the elderly.

Every year Whitchurch's 6th Brownies deliver hampers to the 10 residents of the Almshouses in Bargates, Whitchurch, usually delivering the hampers on the last meeting of the year.

But this year the meetings have been held virtually, so were unable to deliver the hampers.

However, Brownie Harley and her grandmother Avril visited the houses themselves to deliver hampers, ensuring the residents received gifts from the Brownies this Christmas.

Rebecca Harding, from Whitchurch Brownies, said the residents were 'very appreciative' of the gifts.

"The 6th Whitchurch Brownies deliver Christmas hampers to the residents of the 10 Alms Houses in Whitchurch each year," said Rebecca. "Usually the Brownies deliver the hampers on the last Brownie meeting of the year.

"However due to the coronavirus pandemic all of the Brownies could not safely deliver the hampers this year.

"Harley and her grandmother Avril, who is a Whitchurch Trefoil Guild member, volunteered to help and safely deliver the hampers to the 10 residents.

"The residents, some of whom will be by themselves this Christmas were very appreciative of the gifts."
