ELLESMERE residents have embraced the Christmas spirit with a ‘Best Dressed Window’ competition.

Every year the town council hosts a Christmas Window Competition and invites a guest to judge the displays.

Town councillor Nick Cull and his wife Caroline were this year’s competition judges, awarding the first prize to the Sequal Trust, of Ploughman’s Corner, Wharf Road.

The Trust is a charity providing communication equipment to disabled people.

The runners up prize was awarded to Gough Thomas and Scott Solicitors in Willow Street.

Nick is the town council’s link with the Chamber of Commerce and the two organisations collaborate in the organisation of the annual competition.

Nick said: “Despite an awful year for Ellesmere businesses and other organisations, it was a wonderfully uplifting effort by all participants.

“Let’s hope the corner will be turned in the New Year.

“We should make our motto for 2021, Stay Loyal and Buy Local”.

Chairman of the Ellesmere Chamber of Commerce, Nicky Stokes, added: “I know how difficult it has been for many businesses this year, so well done to all.

“It’s great to see how many have adapted to the difficult conditions and help foster a great community spirit. We are all looking forward to better year ahead.”
