A MALPAS firm has ensured Wrexham AFC's iconic floodlights will remain as bright as ever this winter after stepping in at short notice.

Barlows, based on the Hampton Industrial Estate in Malpas, have replaced 34 bulbs in the floodlights at short notice

Damage because of wear, wind and weather meant a big replacement job was needed.

Barlows have also produced a full report of what work would be required in future in order to keep the iconic lights working as efficiently as possible.

The refurbished lights were first showcased for the club's mid-week home game against Altrincham.

The work continues Wrexham's long-standing partnership with Barlows, who have also helped out in recent years through works to the intruder alarm, fire alarms, emergency lighting, CCTV and plumbing and various electrical work around the stadium whenever required.

Commercial director Geoff Scott thanked Barlows for their work.

"Thank you Matthew Scott and all at Barlows for their continued support and quick response and service," said Geoff. "A professional job well done.

"As a long-standing partner they have increased their support from advertising to sponsorship of matches too."

And stadium manager Phil Bennett added: "I would like to thank Barlows for the last four years, for their professional workmanship, continued support and sponsorship at the Racecourse Ground, on behalf of Wrexham AFC."

Meanwhile Matthew Scott, at Barlows, added: "We have been working with the football club over the last few years on various projects around the stadium and have been happy to help out wherever possible.

"The work on the lights is just a continuation of that and we are glad we could help out especially at a time when things are difficult for all football clubs across the country.

"Wrexham AFC is an exciting place at the moment and we are glad we can be part of that now and in to the future."
