This fund has been boosted to £1,000 thanks to Wem Co-op and a spokesman for Thomas Adams said the school liaised with the foodbank to ensure plenty of Christmas-themed items were donated.

They said: "Over the last few weeks, students and parents have been donating food to fill up a trolley as well as giving cash to support our local foodbank.

"Volunteers from the foodbank came to collect the first full trolley back in November and students are continuing to bring in goods to fill another trolley.

"Because of the generosity of parents and students, we raised approximately an amazing £850 and with the support of the Co-op in Wem, this has been boosted to £1,000 worth of Christmas supplies.

"In liaison with the Foodbank, we have provided essentials items needed to include: Christmas cakes, mince pies, biscuits, stuffing mix, Christmas crackers, crisps, chocolate logs, custard etc, and will go to families in need over the Christmas period.
