ELLESMERE’s last remaining bank, TSB, say they are looking at alternative ways to keep ‘face to face’ banking in the town.

The bank is set to close in 2021 and in a effort to reverse this decision, the town council held a meeting with bank managers.

Despite the best efforts of the council, TSB confirmed they would still be closing, but have offered up alternatives.

The bank has booked a room in the town hall and will once a week hold sessions where they can have face to face meetings.

But the issue of the ATM remains, with the issue discussed at the town council’s December meeting.

Mayor of Ellesmere, Councillor Paul Goulbourne said he was working with the Co-op to make their ATM 24 hours.

Meanwhile he confirmed that once TSB goes, If there are any difficulties selling the building it will be marketed towards local charities until it is sold.
