A SCHOOL in Whitchurch has heaped praise on one of its students thanks to their fundraising efforts.
Sir John Talbot's School has commended Year 10 student Charlotte Perkins, who has managed to raise an impressive sum of £123 for The Royal British Legion through her creative fundraising.
Ahead of Remembrance Day, Charlotte set about making a number of felt poppy designs over half term with the view of selling these to staff at the school.
Although her target was only £50, she more than doubled this sum, as she explained.
"I wanted to do something different this year and I like sewing and crochet so I thought I would make poppies and raise money for The Royal British Legion," said Charlotte. "My target was to raise at least £50."
Charlotte's designs were also available in MOO and BOOM in Green End for a donation to the cause.
A spokesman for Sir John Talbot's School added: "We would like to express how proud we are of Charlotte.
"She has truly displayed our school values of empathy and creativity through her fundraising.
"Working determinedly over half term she created beautiful poppies and as a result managed to smash her fundraising target for a very worthy cause."
