TEACHERS at Thomas Adams school in Wem will be sporting their finest moustaches this month to raise money for a special cause.

Movember is a month-long event held each year, involving the growing of moustaches to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide.

For the teachers of Thomas Adams, Sam Peate, Ollie Stokes, Charlie Bailey, Aaron Coleman, Gavin Sterry and Tom McAleavy, Movember the decision to raise funds during Movember is a personal one.

In September one for their colleagues at the school, Darren Jones passed away suddenly, so to honour his legacy and the ambulance staff that tried to save his life, the teachers are raising money for the Midlands Air Ambulance, as well as Prostate Cancer UK.

In launching the fundraiser, Sam hoped raise funds for the two charities would be a 'fitting tribute' to Darren.

"At the start of term, we lost a very dear colleague and friend, Darren Jones, who was a teacher, head of year and senior teacher at Thomas Adams since 2005," said Sam. "In his memory, his colleagues are taking on the Movember challenge which is something Darren always got involved in in the past.

"It therefore seems fitting as a tribute to him with all monies being raised being split between the two charities."
