TWO north Shropshire football clubs have mutually agreed to cancel a league clash for the second time following advice from the North West Counties Football League (NWCFL).

Ellesmere Rangers were set to face St Martins FC, but after discussions between the clubs and advice from the NWCFL, the game has been cancelled.

It is the second time this season the sides have been set to face each other, but both times the game has not gone ahead.

Clubs posted on Twitter to confirm the cancellation of the fixtures, but gave no indication to the reason why.

However, the move comes less than 48 hours before England is expected to enter a second national lockdown which is expected to be in place until December 2 in a bid to thwart the spread of coronavirus.

The FA has confirmed football at non-elite level will be postponed for the duration of the national lockdown.
