SHROPSHIRE residents are being asked to nominate 'Covid-19 heroes' for a special garden party to be held by the Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire next year.

The garden party is being held by Whitchurch native Anna Turner JP to celebrate the work of individuals throughout the Covid-19 pandemic for their communities.

Mrs Turner has invited town and parish councils across Shropshire to nominate individuals, and Whitchurch Town Council has extended that invitation to the town's residents.

A spokesman for the Lord-Lieutenant said Mrs Turner was looking to celebrate resident's 'extraordinary' contributions

They said: "Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Mrs Anna Turner JP will be hosting a special Garden Party in June 2021 to celebrate the extraordinary contributions made by individuals within their local communities throughout the pandemic.

"Shropshire Lieutenancy are inviting all town and parish councils to nominate their Covid-19 heroes who will then be invited to attend this special event.

"We know that there will be many in every community who have risen to the many challenges that the pandemic has posed, and so nominations do not have to be returned until March 31, 2021, to give all councils adequate time to select those who should attend this very special event.

"Further details of the Garden Party will be added to the Lieutenancy website www.lordlieutenantofshropshire.org.uk/ as the planning continues."
