OFFICIALS from the Home Office have confirmed that no one was taken into custody after a raid on a Whitchurch restaurant on Wednesday.
Around 15 immigration enforcement officers headed to The Railway Spice Restaurant Bar Hotel, in Talbot Street, on Wednesday morning.
But a spokesman for the Home Office said that while there were solid reports of vulnerable people staying at the premises, confirmed no action was taken after questions over their immigration status.
"Immigration Enforcement visited The Railway Spice in Whitchurch, at around 11.15am (on Wednesday) following concerns that vulnerable people were being housed there," said a spokesman.
"Officers were accompanied by partner agencies led by Shropshire Police in a joint operation.
"Five males were questioned in relation to their immigration status, but officers were satisfied that no enforcement action was needed."
