A TOTAL of 150 new confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported for west Cheshire in the latest one-day figures.
The Government figures, updated at 4.01pm on Wednesday, October 28, bring the total of cases for the borough during the pandemic to 5,470.
The rate of new confirmed coronavirus cases continues to rise, with 830 cases confirmed over the past seven days, a rise of 106 (14.6%) on the previous seven days.
Over the weekend, the number of confirmed cases in Cheshire west passed the 5,000 mark since the beginning of the pandemic, although the true figure is likely to be much higher due to limited testing in the first wave of the outbreak.
The figures come as three new walk-in coronavirus testing sites have been announced for Chester, Ellesmere Port and Frodsham.
Meanwhile, the deaths of three more coronavirus patients have been recorded in Cheshire hospitals in the latest NHS England data.
One occurred in the Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, while two were recorded at the Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The most recent coronavirus death recorded at the Countess of Chester Hospital Trust was on October 23.
The Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has recorded 235 deaths (the last on October 23), Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 220 deaths (the last on October 26); East Cheshire NHS Trust 152 (the last on October 22), and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 186 (the last on October 27).
Across England, a further 174 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 32,291.
Patients were aged between 33 and 102 years old. All except four (aged 61 to 87 years old) had known underlying health conditions.
Date of death ranges from 27 March to 27 October 2020, with the majority being on or after 20 October.
Their families have been informed.
