HORSE riders in south Cheshire have come together to raise thousands of pounds for a church.
A trekking event covering 10 miles around Marbury, Quoisley and Wirswall, organised by Richard and Sue Evans last week, saw around 180 riders raising money for St Michael's Church.
Jane Lunt, churchwarden at St. Michael's, admitted she was delighted so much money was raised for the popular church and thanked them all.
“It was lovely to be able to welcome so many riders to Marbury, and on behalf of St. Michael’s I would like to thank them for their generosity in raising more than £3,000 for the church," she said.
"Of course none of this would have been possible without the support and hard work of the landowners, organisers and so many volunteers – our sincere thanks to them all.”
Thanks were also given to Carolin Paton-Smith who helped organise the day and raised much-needed funds for the church.
