A MAN has been left in a 'serious condition' following a go-kart collision near Ellesmere last week.

The incident was reported at around 2.10pm on Saturday, October 17, when a go kart being ridden through Wood Lane collided with a brick wall.

The driver, a man in his 60s, suffered head injuries.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed the man had receive specialist care at the scene of the accident before being airlifted to hospital.

They said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a go-kart and a wall in English Frankton, Ellesmere, at 2pm on Saturday.

"One ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was in a serious condition.

"He received specialist trauma care at the scene and once his condition had been stabilised, he was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further assessment."

Meanwhile PC Steve Wootton from West Mercia Police’s Roads Policing Unit said he was keen to speak to any witnesses.
