A TEACHER at Thomas Adams School in Wem has encouraged her pupils to join in on her mission to raise money and get fit at the same time.

Earlier this year Angelique Gilbert challenged her pupils to also take part in a couch to 5K.

Sisters Sophie, Imogen and Matilda morris took up the challenge and worked on their fitness until they reached their goal of running 5km without stopping.

At the end of the summer, Angelique went along and ran the final couch to 5k distance with the girls and their Mum Lisa.

With this increase in their fitness levels, the runners took on the real challenge of completing a virtual Race for Life to raise some money for Cancer Research.

The girls were able to complete the run with Angelique presenting medals for the girls on completing the run.

Following the run, Angelique said she was proud of what the girls had achieved.

"I'm very proud of the girls who have shown such determination and dedication," she said. "All three girls have supported each other through every step of the way and raised money for a very worthy cause.

"Well done everyone."
