ST. JOHN'S Methodist Church will hold a harvest service this weekend.

For this year there will be a number of Covid-19 restrictions in place but services are still able to take place this Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday the church will be open from 10am to 12 noon for people to come and view the displays and for the harvest festival on Sunday at 10.30am.

The preacher will be Reverend Jane Stevenson from Tilston, and the service will be based around the theme of Thanksgiving – Providers, Suppliers and Carers.

Church volunteer Chris Crowther explained the restrictions.

"The present restrictions have placed some limitations on our harvest displays and we are unable to hold our harvest supper or sale this year," she said. "Instead any donations of tinned and dried items will be given to the local foodbank.

"We would welcome people who would wish to give thanks at this time of year at our service.

"The church is Covid-safe and, being a large church, it is able to accommodate more people with social-distancing.

"A one-way system is used for services and there are hand cleansers to be used as you enter and leave.

"Please wear a mask in the church."
