THE University of Chester was ranked fifth best in the region according to The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021.

Nationally, the university moved up ten places to 69th out of 135 overall.

Lancaster University was top of the table in the North West followed by the University of Manchester, University of Liverpool and Manchester Metropolitan University.

Chester, which has campuses in the city and Warrington, took fifth spot in the region ahead of seven other institutions including Liverpool John Moores University, University of Central Lancashire and University of Salford.

The academic league table is made up of nine indicators including student satisfaction with teaching quality and their wider student experience, research quality, graduate prospects, entrance qualifications held by new students, degree results achieved, student/staff ratios, service and facilities spend, and degree completion rates.
