WHITCHURCH Alport have made two signings to boost their squad ahead of this weekend's FA Cup clash.

Former Shrewsbury winger Jamaine Tuner, 18, has signed a deal with the Yockings Park outfit and will be eligible to play for the Reds against Westfields FC.

He joins Dylan Bath, whose committal to Alport for the season was confirmed earlier on on Friday.

Turner impressed against the Reds in the Shropshire Cup final last year, and will give Luke Goddard plenty of options for his playing squad.

Meanwhile, the reds boss is eyeing another cup upset to join the annals of Alport history as he takes his side to Herefordshire on Saturday in the Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round.

Goddard’s side caused an upset in the same round away at Step Four side Coleshill, winning 0-3 to make the first qualifying round for the first time in their history.

A similar upset will be required tomorrow afternoon in Herefordshire but the manager is confident the team can repeat last years achievements.

He told Alport's website: “We are raring to go as a group of players and staff. It’s clearly strange times at the moment and football is very much different with the restrictions.

"However after a positive pre-season we have given ourselves the best chance to cause an upset tomorrow afternoon.

"Clearly the home side will be strong favourites, their history in the competition is very good at these stages but we have done our research and will go play the Alport way with a team that represent us extremely well.

"We have an exciting group here now all looking to progress, a strong togetherness, myself and the staff are happy how we have recruited so we certainly will be giving it our best go to line up another big tie in 12 days time."
