Planning matters will be on Ellesmere Town Council's agenda at a meeting held remotely on Thursday.

The meeting, held over Zoom, will begin at 7pm with a 15-minute public participation session on any planning matters not on the agenda.

There are no planning applications to be considered by the council's committee but a number of reports and issues for the town council will be discussed.

Councillors will be asked to review the current place plan for Ellesmere – the document that defines what areas of development will take place through Shropshire Council in the town.

Through the place plan, both unitary and town councils can develop what infrastructure is needed.

For example, in Ellesmere, the current place plan has identified works to solve drainage issues all around the town, as well as improving mobile phone and broadband coverage across the town and surrounding villages.

Councillors will also discuss how they can bring in government funding in order to support a Neighbourhood Plan for Ellesmere.

There is potentially up to £18,000 in funding from the government as announced in August.

There will also be consultations regarding government proposals to change planning rules and regulations.
