AN EVENT has been organised in Wem to promote awareness of how food choices can affect health and climate change.

THE Curious Carrot Trail is being organised by Wem Climate Forum and will take place on Saturday, August 29 from 11am to 2pm, starting at Jubilee Square and finishing at Millennium Green.

Participants will be asked to collect a bag and a map from an information stand in the Jubilee Square where the trail starts.

While doing the trail participants can choose a free vegetable from participating stalls and cafes as well as buying a small sample to try, or purchase bigger food items.

Ice cream will be available to purchase on the Millennium Green and children will be given a small prize such as a colouring pack for completing a quiz on the trail.

Event organiser Barbara Cotterell explained the event.

"The trail invites you to think about how food choices affect our health and climate change," said Barbara.

"A quiz takes you round the short accessible trail in Wem Town Centre, looking for carrots and sampling local food products en-route. Covid measures are in place to help keep you safe.

"Bring your mask please in case you need it.

"Samples will be 25p each and a charge of 10p will get you into Millennium Green.
