SOULTON Hall near Wem has ensured the arts can continue throughout the Covid-19 pandemic by constructing an outdoor theatre.

With the help of Sacred Stones, the creators of Soulton Long Barrow, Soulton Hall constructed the theatre at short notice and will soon hold a production of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.

Tim Ashton from Soulton Hall said he was thankful for everyone who supported the venture.

"Here is an emergency theatre for days of Covid," said Tim. "We are also making the gardens available.

"Conceived and built in just a few weeks, it's already enabled safe performance of Shakespeare and work with the National Youth Theatre and some live performance of music.

"On farm culture can be part of the response to this emergency in live performance.

"We are really thankful to those who have already supported the performance which is coming here by booking tickets. It means the world to the performers they are supporting.

"And it is important to be there for culture if we want it to be there for us all when things go back to normal.

"As we grow in confidence we can deliver audiences, it means we will have growing confidence in establishing an ongoing programme for you to enjoy.

"Thank you as always for the support for what we are doing in this landscape."

On Sunday, August 30 there will be a performance of Two Gentlemen of Verona followed by on A Midsummer Night's Dream on Saturday, September 5.
