‘Extraction’ is currently Netflix’s highest streamed original movie with 99 million viewers, and is a gritty action movie that tells the story of Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth), a mercenary fighting to save the kidnapped son of an imprisoned Indian criminal mastermind.
Hemsworth delivers a great performance in a physical role as charming Tyler. Rudhraksh Jaiswal plays Ovi, the kidnapped son, and also gives a wonderful performance, creating a well-rounded character.
The plot is interesting but not groundbreaking. However, this is forgiven by the incredible action sequences. The film is fast and tense throughout with non-stop action and each fight scene is perfectly choreographed and brutal.
The range of weapons creates entertaining scenes which keep you on the edge of your seat and unable to look away. This film is, however, not suitable for those who hate gore – every scene is a bloodbath.
One particularly impressive scene is an 11-minute fight, edited to look like one shot. This scene is filmed in a tight space and shows off the incredible combat brilliantly. It has a video-game quality to it with upbeat close-combat and non-stop threat.
For any action lover or admirer, this film is a must-see.
