Wem sit bottom of the Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League GWT Group after two games, following a tight defeat to Wolverhampton on Saturday.
Skipper Sam Peate decided to give his men first go of the facilities and would have been satisfied with their efforts of 184 all out from 39 overs in tough conditions.
Peate was first out as Wem slipped to 18-3 but a middle order recovery was led by Martyn Davies (30) and Chris Peel Jr (38) before another mini-slip left them 123-9.
But 44 not out from Danny Cohen led them to a respectable score.
In reply, three wickets for Tom Astley gave Wem hope of avoiding defeat but Wolverhampton soon reached 186-6 and victory.
On Saturday, they host nearby Shifnal.
Meanwhile, it was also defeat for Whitchurch in a rain-affected clash with Wellington at Heath Road.
Batting first, the visitors reached 191-8 thanks mainly to 51 not out from number nine Ben Byram, with four wickets for Patrick Phillips
Whitchurch’s reply stuttered with both openers out cheaply, before a fighting innings of 28 from Nadeem Ahmad gave them a chance.
However, he was soon out as and Whitchurch were bowled out for 165.
