Ellesmere Primary School has been praised for the excellent way it has cared for its pupils during lockdown.

Parents have written to the school to thank the team for supporting their children with daily lessons and entertaining them with videos, even while they have been back in school teaching classes.

One family, in a letter to headteacher Stuart Roberts, said: “A massive thank you for your leadership during this tricky time. Clearly you have been dealing with wide-reaching dynamics and situations during these past ‘Covid-impacted’ weeks – so appreciated your measured and pragmatic communications and solutions during a period of uncharted territory.”

Mr Roberts, said: “The last 15 weeks have been challenging for everyone, but it has been made significantly easier by the support and trust of staff, parents and pupils at our wonderful school.

“The time and effort that staff have put into supporting home learning has been reflected by the hard work and dedication of the children and their parents and family members.

“Having the space and resources to safely bring all year groups back, even if it was just for a week each for years 2, 3, 4 and 5, before the summer holidays has been great and will really help to smooth their transition back into full time school life in September."
