ELLESMERE residents are being asked not to drink tap water from certain areas of the town by providers Severn Trent.
Severn Trent say the issue has been caused by a water leak in the Welshampton and Cockshutt, caused by 'third party' contractors.
The issue was reported on Monday afternoon, with works continuing into Tuesday morning.
A spokesman for Severn Trent reasured residents after the warning not to drink tap water.
"This is nothing to worry about," they said. "We’re just tankering water into our network of pipes, to ensure that customers remain on supply.
"Some customers have had bottled water delivered early this morning.
"lease make sure to check outside your gate or property boundary, in case you have received bottled water.
"We appreciate your ongoing cooperation at this time. "
