A PENLEY shopkeeper has received a community thank you for keeping his shop well stocked through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Arumavunthu Rajeevan, who runs Premier Stores on Penley Business Park, and his family was greeted outside his shop by dozens of Penley residents on Saturday, June 20, who presented him with money they had raised.

Altogether the Penley community were able to raise £1,250 for 'Raj' as well as purchasing a plaque for the shop, a bouquet of flowers for his wife and toys for his children.

After the presentation, Raj was grateful for the community's efforts.

"At this difficult time I have been trying to keep the shop stocked," said Raj.

"They told me on Saturday that they had raised this money and presented me with a cheque.

"They also presented my wife with a bouquet and some toys for my kids."

Meanwhile Penley resident Lynda Sayer shared her thoughts.

"Lovely to see the Penley community thanking Raj and family today for keeping the shop stocked and open throughout this pandemic," she said. "They looked genuinely thrilled.

"Some nice news for once.

"Thanks to the organisers."
