AN APPRENTICESHIP programme has been launched in Whitchurch to help support young people through the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Next Steps programme, launched by County Training's Whitchurch office in Green End, offers people between the ages of 16 to 24 work placements, apprenticeships and general advice.

Andy Hall from the Whitchurch branch said that while times were tough for young people, he would be able to provide a helping hand.

"These are really tough times for young people," said Andy. "I want them to know that they can contact me directly for support.

"If you are aged 16 to 24 and not sure what to do next, get in touch.

"Whether you need advice and guidance on pre-apprenticeships, traineeships, and apprenticeship programmes, or need some help with college courses and application forms – I will be on hand to help."

County Training currently provide various programmes, including pre-apprenticeships, traineeships and full apprenticeships for various age groups.

If you are aged 16 to 18, a pre-apprenticeship is designed to help move forward and prepare for a career.

Traineeships are for those aged 16 to 24 years old, offering a structured work placement with an employer lasting between six weeks and six months.

An apprenticeship is a nationally recognised training programme, combining real work with learning and training and is for anyone over the age of 16 and as employees, apprentices earn a wage and work alongside experienced members of staff.
