Your headline ‘Tips may close if traffic chaos does not stop’ intrigued me.

Why would HCC suggest this? Closing the recently re-opened HWRCs would simply postpone the chaos, encourage more fly tipping and bonfires.

HCC should have known that the demand would be high, especially as garden waste collection has been suspended, and planned accordingly. The HWRCs would have to re-open sometime and by then the demand would be even higher.

I suspect that, as the weeks go by, the high demand will decline and normal demand will return.

One short term solution would be to extend the opening hours, the current opening from 10am until 6pm is very restrictive especially with the lighter evenings, or bring back garden waste collections or do both.
