FIREFIGHTERS from Ellesmere and Chirk were among those who attended a large blaze at a landfill site near Wrexham on Wednesday evening.
Engines from Chirk and Ellesmere were among the seven sent to the incident at Hafod Industrial Estate in Ruabon.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service received a call just after 7.10pm on Wednesday reporting the incident.
The service initially said four crews were sent to the scene – two from Wrexham, one from Johnstown and one from Chirk.
But at 8.40pm, a spokesman confirmed the number of crews had been increased to seven.
Additionally, an environmental protection unit from Wrexham, a high volume pump from Llandudno and an incident command unit from Rhyl have all been called to the scene.
The spokesman added that the scale of the fire was about 1,000 square metres.
