THIS year's Malpas Yesteryear Rally has been cancelled because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Event chairman John Blackwell made the announcement online earlier this week, saying it was a difficult decision to cancel the annual event.

The Yesteryear Rally, held every year in Hampton Heath, was due to take place in late September, and John is certain next year's event will go ahead.

He said: "I am sorry to have to inform you that the rally for this year has had to be cancelled.

"It was a very difficult decision to make but the committee agreed unanimously that due to the situation which is beyond our control we had no option but to do so.

"We have a duty of care to you, to all exhibitors, to the public, anybody whosoever that is on the rally ground.

"We have got to keep you safe. If we couldn't guarantee that then there was no option to make the decision we did.

"Next year's rally will of course go ahead on September 11 and 12 2021.

"Anybody who has entered this year will get there entry form sent out automatically.

"Thank you for your understanding hope to see you all at our rally next year."
