Pupils at Clutton CofE Primary School have unveiled a 'super' tribute to key workers with the help of two heroic characters.

Superman and Captain America arrived at the school recently to unveil a tribute to key workers created by children at the school.

The pupils were asked to choose a letter to colour, draw or design, making up the thank you key workers message.

The tribute was organised by Parent Teacher Association (PTA) chairman Laura Montgomery who put together the message, ably assisted by the two superheroes.

She said: "I'm fortunate to know both Superman and Captain America, and I was grateful they could find the time to visit our small school and help put up our sign thanking all key workers.

"It's a tough time for everyone right now. We wanted to create the tribute to show the children that we are all in this together.

"Since lockdown, our teachers have been busy providing home learning through Google Classrooms, helping our children to stay busy and engaged with learning at home.

"My children have been learning about volcanoes, growing sunflowers and tackling tricky maths.

"We're so grateful to our teachers for all that they are doing, and for all key workers working so hard to keep us safe."

After visiting Clutton C of E Primary School, the superheroes also visited the Countess of Chester Hospital, Blacon Police Station and Dee Point Primary School.

School executive principal Zoe Carciero thanked the superheroes for their visit, as well as thanking the children for their designs.

"Although our children are at home at the moment, we know that many will pass by school on their daily walk or in the car," she said. "We are sure that they will be thrilled to see their work displayed so beautifully.

"As a church school, we utilise Roots and Shoots and look at different Christian values such as kindness, compassion and thankfulness, and the tribute to key workers embodies all of these and more.

"Our thanks go to the children for creating the sign, Mrs Montgomery for co-ordinating the design and, Superman and Captain America for dropping by."
