An ELLESMERE group dedicated to raising funds for Severn Hospice has called on residents to dig deep once once more as COVID-19 hits their revenue streams.
On Sunday, the Severn Hospice Ellesmere Support Group was set to hold a fundraising dinner called the Sunday Summer Lunch but had to cancel because of the coronavirus outbreak.
Since the lockdown, the group has still been be able to do carry out some fundraising, after a call to arms led to some generous donations.
Group member John Vernon said: "We asked you to remember the work of Severn Hospice, which of course still goes on, with all the problems facing other medical services at this time.
"We invited you to continue with your support and offered to pass on donations.
"We have received some very generous donations and have been able to channel £1,600 to the hospice on your behalf in the past two months.
"At the same time, a number of our committee members have been busy sewing PPE for the hospice."
He added: " [On] Sunday, we planned to hold our annual Summer Sunday Lunch, one of our major fundraisers in Ellesmere for the hospice.
"Perhaps you had this in your diary but whether or not you were planning on attending, please consider making a donation to the Severn Hospice now."
Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Hospice via the group can pass money onto a committee member or direct at the hospice website at www.severnhospice.co.uk
