FIREFIGHTERS from Malpas were called to a fire near Bickley on Wednesday morning.
The fire, which was reported at around 10.30am, engulfed an area of land in a field off the A49, with flames beginning to catch nearby trees.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze and were on the scene for around 20 minutes.
