A RETIRED couple who raffled away their Loppington home for charity have revealed the date of the prize draw.

Jane and Nigel Chaloner put their six-bedroom family home, Grafton Hall, up for raffle earlier this year to raise money for Severn Hospice, and in doing so were able to raise £120,000.

Entrants to the contest were able to buy as many raffle tickets as they wanted for £2 each, and on Thursday, May 14 the winning ticket holder will be revealed.

The draw will be broadcast live over the internet, and the couple will then call the lucky winner to tell them the good news.

Jane Chaloner said that the family have been bowled over by the positive response and generosity of spirit of everyone who has entered.

She said: "People have shared stories that have inspired us and warmed our hearts.

"Everyone deserves to win this dream home but for us, the real winners are the many, who have helped make such a difference to Severn Hospice."

Norma Ross, director of income generation at Severn Hospice, added: "Nigel and Jane and the rest of their family have been incredibly generous to us. Their donation of £120,000 will make such a difference.

"They really have supported us from their sofa and I would like to publicly thank them for all they have done.

"We wish everyone the best of luck. Grafton Farmhouse is a beautiful family home and whoever wins this fabulous prize will, I'm sure, be very happy there.

"Their competition was a great success and reflects the hard work they put into everything, we are incredibly grateful to them and to those who bought tickets – their contributions will allow us to continue to support thousands of people who need our care in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales."
