FIREFIGHTERS from Malpas were called out to find a blazing tree on Sunday.
One engine was sent to Mates Lane, in Kidnal, at around 12noon, finding the top of the tree 'well alight' and set to work straight away.
Firefighters moved members of the public away from the tree before they then extinguished the fire, which was approximately 14 metres from the base of the tree, using a 45-millimetre hose.
Firefighters were in attendance for around 90 minutes and they returned later on to make sure that the fire had not reignited.
