A SUPPORT group in Ellesmere has made a plea for machinery to help make face masks for care providers.

The Ellesmere COVID-19 Community Support Group has put out a call for a machine that cuts sheets to help make the masks for face shields and other personal protective equipment (PPE).

In a post on their Facebook page, the group said: “Do you have the facility/capacity to laser cut 1mm polypropylene sheets?

“Over the last few weeks a team of Ellesmere College staff has been making face shields for front line workers, including NHS and care home staff, to assist with the national shortage of PPE.

“We are struggling to keep up with the huge demand due to the time it takes to laser cut the necessary components. We are looking for local people who could lend us a laser cutting machine or have the capacity to laser cut the components for us to increase the number of visors we are able to make (files and materials will be provided).
