A BAND from Malpas has received assistance from nineties music royalty with their upcoming single release.

The Modern Society are a young band with three of the members having attended Bishop Heber High School.

Aged between 17 and 19-years-old the band was formed by school friends Lucas Humphreys and Declan Fowles and last year added Jack Varah, and another former student of Bishop Heber, Connor Loman, to complete the line-up.

The band blends indie and rock with funk and pop alongside youthful and direct lyrics, and the group has been working with Simon Jones from nineties supergroup The Verve.

At the beginning of the year they were taken on by Manchester-based PR company Bandwagon Press, in doing so joining the likes of Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Embrace.

Their debut single Bad Thoughts released on January 31 this year and has already hit 60,000 streams.

The track, which was produced by Simon Jones, was backed by a poignant video shot by Cinframe Productions.

Since then the band has been building their local following, playing shows in and around the north west, including iconic venues such as Manchester's Band on the Wall, Jacarandas in Liverpool and The Tivoli in Buckley to name a few.

The band are set to release their second track Liquid Love on April 24 on all major platforms. The track will be followed by a video shortly afterwards.

Lead vocalist Lucas describes the track as "inspired by sunshine and the overwhelming power of young and innocent romance", adding that "Liquid Love is a feel good, organic, summer love song with cool jazzy vibes, soulful vocals and catchy melodies".

Under the current situation all gigs have been restricted, but as soon as things change The Modern Society will be straight back out with their electric and energetic shows.
