A CHURCH in Audlem is celebrating after winning an award for being eco-friendly.
St James Church, in Heathfield Road, has for a number of years been trying to become as environmentally friendly as possible in many different aspects of church life, within the constraints of a Grade 1 listed building.
In August 2019, the church started to collate the actions already taken to this end, as well as planning for the future as well.
To do this church patrons used the A Rocha eco church measurement tools, which helped identify areas of success and to give further ideas for improvement.
In January members of the church applied for the award, and it has been confirmed that a Silver level award has been accomplished.
The church won the award for their work in various areas, including worship and teaching, management of buildings and land, community and global engagement and lifestyle.
