FIREFIGHTERS are currently tackling a blaze at an industrial unit near Chester.

Three fire engines are currently in attendance with an aerial platform at the building in Ash Road, Elton.

The fire, believed to involve the roof of the building, was out on arrival of the crews at about 2.30pm.

However the roof was found to be smouldering with soot and ash.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The crews are using a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.

"An aerial appliance is in operation while crews use shovels and hand appliances to help clear the debris.

"Ash is now being swept away and a hose reel jet is helping to damp down the area."
