The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust (SaTH) has confirmed three further deaths at its hospitals from the coronavirus outbreak.

The confirmation of the deaths, though not confirmed at which of the hospitals the victims died at, brings the total number of people who have died from COVID-19 at SaTH to 12.

However, it is believed that more have died in the county, with one care home in the Shrewsbury area confirming a resident had passed away because of the outbreak.

A spokesman for SaTh said: "The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is currently treating patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus).

"Sadly we can confirm that 12 patients being cared for at our hospitals, and who had tested positive for COVID-19, have died. Three of those have been announced today.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and friends of those patients at this very difficult and distressing time."

The death toll across the UK is confirmed to be 1,408 by 5pm on Sunday, March 29, while as on 9am on Monday, March 30, 22,141 had tested positive.

In England, there have been 1,284 deaths while in Wales, Sunday saw the total jump from 40 to 60.
