A MALPAS-based singer has been helping to lift people's spirits and raise money by hosting an online concert.

Emily Burnett, from Shocklach, is part of operatic duo Belle Voci, alongside Sophie Rowland, who have appeared on The Voice as well as hosting various concerts.

The coronavirus epidemic means they are unable to perform as they have previously, but this has not stopped the pair from providing entertainment and raising morale.

On March 26, Belle Voci held an online concert to raise money for the WHO COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, which helps deliver personal protective equipment (PPE) to those helping tackle the virus.

Emily believes the concert was a great way to raise money and spirits at the same time.

"In times like these we should come together to support one another and we thought what better way to do that than through the gift of song," said Emily.

"So, while we are all far away from each other we wanted to bring people together with something to uplift their spirits, keep them going, and raise some money for a great cause for the WHO COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, who are bringing PPE to frontline workers and are working to create a vaccine.

"We hope the concert brings people joy; it certainly was great fun for us to work with Picturehouse Films to record it and have a project for a few days when our whole diary had been cleared practically overnight."
