THE Rainbow Centre in Penley say will continue the assist the community, despite closing its doors because of the coronavirus.

The centre, which acts as a community hub for elderly and vulnerable residents in Penley and the surrounding areas closed their doors for the foreseeable future earlier in March.

But they will now be running a Meals on Wheels service for residents, as part of the community agent service.

Pat Burns, community agent, said the service had proved very popular.

"The Rainbow Centre and everything that goes on there is virtually on lock down now," said Pat.

"However we have started a Meals on Wheels service which has proved very popular with the elderly.

"The community agents are still working and available doing welfare checks, prescription runs and ensuring people have food at home."
