OFFICERS have made an appeal for the day trippers and holidaymakers ignoring the government’s coronavirus guidelines to ‘stay away’ from North Wales.

Police took to social media to remind the public that they should not be travelling to North Wales during the current COVID-19 pandemic

A spokesman said: “You should only be leaving the house for food, health reasons, one form of exercise a day or work (if you cannot work from home). Please visit the UK Government & Welsh Government websites for further details.

“Day trippers, holidaymakers - please stay away. The mountains, beaches and countryside will still be here when this is all over.

“And a huge thank you goes to all those who are listening to advice and who are staying at home.”

Officers also took the opportunity to assure the public that they continue to patrol the communities and roads.

The new measures mean that, quite simply, we must all stop contact with anybody outside our homes, unless it is absolutely essential.

Here's what the Prime Minister Boris Johnson said was permitted on Monday, March 23:

• Shopping for basic necessities, as infrequently as possible.

• One form of exercise a day - for example a run, walk, or cycle - alone or with members of your household.

• Any medical need, to provide care or to help a vulnerable person.

• Travelling to and from work, but only where this is absolutely necessary and cannot be done from home.
