WHITCHURCH auctioneers Trevanion and Dean has been forced to close its doors in line with government measures to tackle the spread of COVID-19.

The auctioneers held a successful sale earlier this month, but on Monday, March 20, made the decision to the public for the foreseeable future.

Owner Christina Trevanion said the decision was made with a 'heavy heart'.

"We have taken the responsible step of closing our auction rooms to the public for the foreseeable future," said Christina.

"This comes during a fast-developing national crisis whereby all of us will play a part – to social distance and to stay at home.

"We close with a heavy heart but safe in the knowledge that we are doing our best to protect our wonderful team in Whitchurch, the communities we serve and wider society.

"We strongly urge all of our customers to stay at home."
