WHITCHURCH Rotary Club says it is 'desperately sad' to be unable to continue their events amid the coronavirus pandemic.

But despite the disappointment, members are urging people to stay safe, and that they are willing to help when they can.

Rotarian Maggie Allen said although she is sad to be unable to hold events, she assures the Rotary club will be back.

"No one is more desperately sad that we can't continue normally with our regular program of events, entertainment and support than the Rotary Club," said Maggie.

"To all of our lovely followers, please, please all stay safe through this unprecedented crisis.

"We will be back. Don't know when but just as soon as we can."

Meanwhile Rotary Club chairman Peggy Mullock says that although events have been cancelled, the club has still been helping out in the community.

"Whitchurch Rotary sadly have to say that their concert this year will not now be taking place," said Peggy.

"A decision on the August holidays to Blackpool will depend on how the health of the country is nearer to the date.

"Although Rotary is no longer holding its weekly meeting, members are still in touch and doing their best to offer help where needed.

"Last week the club decided to help out the Foodbank with a donation of £500 to help them to get the stock needed to keep doing their valuable work at this time."
