ONE of the organisers of what would have been Oswestry's first comedy festival say they hope to bounce back later in the year, following its postponement.

The festival, organised by Jack Wright and Tawanda Melusi, was set to be held across a number of venues in Oswestry from April 7-12, but the pair took the decision to postpone after government guidelines over the coronavirus outbreak.

Mr Wright says refunds are available to anyone who wants one, but is hoping the pair can bounce back towards the end of the year once restrictions of public gatherings are lifted.

“Unfortunately due to the latest development of Covid-19 and the health of staff, comedians and guests attending, we will be unfortunately postponing Oswestry Comedy Festival," he said.

"We will contact all ticket holders regarding the next stage of the process.

"Oswestry will have it’s first ever comedy festival, very soon so stay tuned.

"Obviously for us, the health of everyone is the most important factor under the current circumstances.

"But hopefully we’ll be able to bring the event to Oswestry in the near future, again if anyone has any questions regarding the event, contact us via social media and we’ll be more than happy to help."

He added: " Hopefully, we can do something later in the year.

"We've had no one get in touch with us just yet about refunds but if they want one, people can get in touch.

"But if they also want to keep their ticket, then that's great. Just keep an eye on our social media channels for more updates."
